Jesus Christ Superstar
We went to a really cool place last friday, Spring Mountain Ranch where they have their Summer Theater. It is about 30 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the strip in the mountains at Red Rock Canyon where it is 10-15 degrees cooler!
We went with friends and took blankets, picnic baskets with wine, sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, ambrosia, and an asparagus salad.
We watched Jesus Christ Superstar under the stars and laying on a blanket, it was so much fun! We had never seen the play and we really enjoyed it. The cast was great and the singing was incredible!
The crowd was very diverse from infants to elderly, families, date night for younger adults to people like us, just looking for a new experience here in town.
As we were leaving I mentioned that ‘Jesus had an incredible voice’. Everyone kind of looked at me and said “duh! he is Jesus after all” My husband and friends are dorks but I love them all. I am so naive, they all just sit and wait for an opportunity to laugh at me and believe me, we laugh constantly.
You can buy tickets thru the UNLV web site if you get the chance. Tickets are only $10 per person, the show starts at dark but gates open at 6pm and you can picnic until the show starts!
Spring Mountain Ranch was owned by Howard Hughes at one time in the early 70’s I believe, I’m not sure if he ever lived in the house but it was still kinda cool.
Historical Sites at the park include the Main Ranch House; Wilson Cemetery, Sandstone Cabin; Board and Batten bunkhouse; Blacksmith’s Shop, Hay and Horse Barn/Corral, Two-Hole Outhouse, Chinchilla Shed and many more so get there early!
