Las Vegas Grand Prix
We went o the Inaugural Grand Prix here in Vegas last week.
It was a lot of fun but my guys got sunburned even with sunscreen. We had grandstand seats at the start - finish line. We got there just in time to hear the national anthem and to see the F-15’s that flew over.
In the tower where the guy waves the flag, they had a few showgirls which was cool. There were two local guys racing but we don’t follow these cars so we didn’t know who they were. There were a few big screen’s there so that we could see the cars racing thru the streets. That was really odd, seeing them go through stop lights and passing by places we knew.
There was a caution in the first and second lap. After the race got going we went to the hospitality tent to eat lunch and load up on water. We had hot dogs, salad and fruit.
We also had paddock and pit passes. After the race we walked through and saw all the cars. The winner was, get this….First name Will, last name Power. LOL His parents have a great sense of humor. We watched his car go through inspection in the paddock area and saw him thank everyone while receiving his trophy.
As always, I enjoyed the people watching more than anything. We saw a woman with bunny ears on and sporting a nice Michelin man backpack, we saw LOTS of drunk people, one woman sitting near us was dressed really cute in a red shirt and white shorts, she was very attractive and maybe 45. I looked over and saw her leg as she was reclining on the grandstand. She had leg hair that was 1/4 inch long! I took a picture! LOL In fact, I took lots of people pictures. Bobby got his picture taken with a ‘race girl’ in front of an indy car also. As soon as I can, I’ll post them on flickr.
After the race, we rode a shuttle to the parking lot which was a sand lot. Our dark blue car was covered in sand. Our tires were even ’sand colored’. The traffic was painless and things went very smooth.
We all had a great time and plan on going back next year.
