UNLVino - Take a Sip for Scholarship
We are planning on attending UNLVino next weekend. This is a yearly event here in Vegas for the past 30 something years, this year it is held at the Paris. Last year there were 1,100 wines from more than 350 international wineries, represented by 145 suppliers at what has grown to be America ’s largest single day wine tasting. Attendees get a book with all of the wine vendors and you can take notes on the wines you like or don’t like.
We are new to the wine world and just subscribed to Wine Spectator a few months ago. In the issue we got today there is an article about Alex Lifeson from Rush and his love for wine. Apparently they have a chef that travels with them and he prepares the meal based on what wine they will be having! THAT is cool!
We pretty much experiment with wines around $20 but on my birthday we got a bottle that was $40. I tell ya, you truly get what you pay for! It is amazing how he wine can enhance the flavor of whatever you are eating. My husband enjoyed that wine a little more than I did, perhaps because he was eating beef and I had eggplant Parmesan.
I remember buying very, very cheap wine when I was in my early 20’s, trying to be sophisticated, I’m talking screw off cap cheap! lol I wonder if 20 years from now I will laugh at the cheap $20 wine we are now drinking?
There is nothing finer that enjoying a good steak or chicken grilled by my husband and a good bottle of wine. He compliments his with an after dinner cigar while we sit on the patio, thankful for how good we have it and how far we’ve come. Those are the best nights ever.
