Free things to do in Vegas!
1. Belllagio Fountains are a must! We never miss it when we are on the stip. After seeing the dancing waters several times, it still hasn’t lost it’s romance and beauty.
Show times are Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. show every 1/2 hour, 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. show every 15 minutes and on Saturday & Sunday 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. show every 1/2 hour 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. show every 15 minutes. Daylight hours are less crowded but there is nothing so beautiful as seeing the fountains at night.
The Music lists consists of: One, Singular Sensation, Hoe-Down, Simple Gifts, Singin’ in the Rain, Rondine al Nido, Luck Be A Lady, Winter Games, Hey, Big Spender, Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye), Hallelujah Chorus, Carol of the Bells, O Holy Night, It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, We Need a Little Christmas, Sleigh Ride, Santa Baby, Your Song, God Bless The USA, Star Spangled Banner, Pink Panther, My Heart Will Go On, Fly Me To The Moon, This Kiss, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Gayaneh - Suite: Dawn, Ayeshe’s Dance, Overture/And All That Jazz, Ecstasy of Gold and of course Viva Las Vegas by Elvis.
If you are a poker player, you have to visit the poker room. On any given night you can see the pro’s there.
2. Caesars Palace Forum Shops you can see the statues come to life every hour on the hour Sunday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. - midnight I think it is Neptune and 3 or 4 others. Great photo op too.
The Forum shops are also a cool place for the small town visitors, such as myself a few years back. I felt very uptown window shopping at Fendi, Louis Vuitton Kate Spade, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and F.A.O. Schwartz.
3. The Masquerade Show in the Sky at the Rio where several floats go around a track that on the ceiling. They have dancers inside the open floats and they are having fun! They toss beads to onlookers. You can even be apart of the show and ride on a float for only $12 or $13.
4. The Volcano at the Mirage It rumbles loudly and there is fire at the base, the eruption is scented like vanilla. If it is summertime, the heat from the volcano can be too intense. This is best at night but cool during daytime as well. The eruption is every hour on the hour. Spring Hours • 7:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., Summer Hours • 8:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., Winter Hours • 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
5. The lion habitat at TheMGM Grand You can see a few female and one male lions living in a big glass front area. The last time we were there, all 3 lions were laying on a glass bridge sleeping. It is amazing at how big they are! They are available for viewing from 10 am to 10 pm daily.
6. The Imperial Palace is an older casino on the strip and it is kind of dark n dirty but they have a great show called dealertainers. Black Jack dealers who impersonate celebrities and every so often they perform on the little stage there in the black jack pit. I had sooo much fun here. Billy Idol taught me how to play black jack! We also saw a perfect Tina Turner, Cher, Blondie, Elvis, Little Richard, Aretha Franklin and even Liberace.
7. Fremont Experience isn’t high on my list but it is on every single tourists to see list! The show lasts 2 minutes and it is totally not worth the trip unless you plan on seeing other sites downtown. I read the same thing before we visited the first time but I HAD to go anyway and I’m sure you will to! : ) See number 8 and 9 if you insist on going!
8. Vegas Vic just because he is an old downtown Vegas icon! He is on Fremont St., you can’t miss him.
9. Worlds largest golden nugget at none other than the Golden Nugget! It is a little hard to find but it is worth the search. Some family found it behind their mobile home (of course) just a few inches below the surface. It is the size of a toddler!
10. Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo is really beautiful. There is a tall waterfall, flamingos of course and even african penguins. I’ll have pictures on flickr soon, I took lots of them here because it was so colorful. Caution: you must work your way through several senior citizens!! : )

Hi Will,
I have not traveled the SW too much. We saw a lot on the way out here from KC. We live here and travel mostly to California. We are going to San Diego in August because I need more to blog about.
: )
Thanks for the comment,
MM
