My Granny
My grandma Naoma has been on my mind a lot lately so I thought I would write a little about her. She passed away in May ‘06 after a short battle with cancer. She was the sweetest woman in the world. I never heard a bad word out of her mouth about anyone, even when my grandpa would blacken her eyes or cheat on her.
That is something that she kept to herself because she didn’t want to burden anyone. She carried the heavy load of a mentally and physically abused housewife for many, many years. It was only after her death that my brother and I found out the extent of grandpa’s abuse. He passed away a few years ago and I am thankful that I didn’t know about his abuse while he was alive.
I remember telling my grandma a year or two ago that I was upset with her for not leaving him sooner. She explained that she had to get her 7 kids raised. She finally divorced him in the early 80’s.
